The chief judge of Washington's federal courthouse on Wednesday unsealed hundreds of pages of documents in the FBI's nearly 7-year investigation of anthrax mailings that killed five people.

I is rather amazing to me that when all this happened they were claiming that it was a terrorist attack, but if it was a military strain they already knew that that this was a domestic attack. Why did the white house not tell the public the truth when this was first known at most it would only have taken 3 to 4 days to find out where it came form. Realistically the intelligence community could have logically ruled out the possibility that this was done by middle east terrorist because this was weapons grade stuff. This is just another great example of the White House making stuff up to scare the American people because a frightened electorate is more willing to give up their constitutional rights in exchange for security and that is vary sad.

Is anyone else concerned that the government gets to blame this guy in the media, no one will really counter their case and they, the government looks like they did their job. It is the perfect fall guy and this is from the same government that told us to trust them about WMD in Iraq.
- 4 votes
This is the legacy of this horrible administration. They have lied so often about so many things, that no one would believe them if they did tell the truth about anything. Every department of the Bush administration has been so corrupt that there is no answer except to sweep them all out and try to start again with different people. The new ones may not be perfect, but they could hardly be worse.

I'd like to know if Bruce Ivins is a Republican, because clearly the real Anthrax killer only attacked leaders of the Democratic party and the press. If Bruce Ivins is a Republican, I can see why this administration protected him; I suspect he was supposed to create the evidence needed to launch the attack on Iraq. It is very convenient he was dead before anybody got a chance to talk to him.

If anybody out there believes anything the FBI says, refer them to Richard Jewel. Oh, wait, he's dead. Ask Ivens. Oh, wait, he's dead. Never mind. If anyone out there believes anything the FBI says, I have a used Richard Nixon to sell them. And I'll throw in a used G. Gordon Liddy. And to make sure everything is open and above board, I'll throw in an Ollie North. That should make all you "My country, right or wrong" people feel secure about the deal. Come with me to Ruby Ridge and we'll seal the contract.

Believe NOTHING this government says! NOTHING! They had the invasion of Iraq planned BEFORE Bush even took office! They have been lying since day one, have not stopped yet, and don't expect them to stop lying - EVER! Honesty would NOT be in their best interests, and that's putting it mildly! And their best interests do NOT equal ours.

It's sad when the insane attack those they think are retarded.

Maybe I have just missed it but I am wondering when they plan to define measures to keep this or anything like it from happening again. Apparently he had too much security clearance or this could have never happened to begin with.
- 2 votes
I don't believe any of this crap. The Justice Department has found an easy way out and is taking it, no matter the effect on his family.
Dr. Ivins was a kind, gentle man. I worked with him for nearly 4 years. I never saw the side his "supposed" therapist says "threatened" her.
Did you know his therapist was required to have constant supervision? Did you know she was arrested and had been on drugs? This sounds more suspicious to me. How far did she go to "profit" from her testimony in court?
I believe she exploited her position and defied the ethics of her profession. I wonder why she is not working for the mental health institute?
- 4 votes
Yeah, I'm with you kram-408948... the supposed therapist in question was probably a well paid Government appointed therapist if any.

Having known Bruce for nearly 40 years, I refuse to believe that he would do what the press and the FBI accuse him of doing. As graduate students we worked, often side by side, in the laboratories of our mentor. Later in our careers, we managed to keep in touch with each other often lunching and socializing at national scientific meetings. My wife and I refuse to believe that he would harm, much less hurt anyone. I've racked my brain over the past weekend trying to figure out what possible motive he could have had. Where is the evidence? Where's the DNA from the envelopes? Where are the fingerprints? After all these month's why has it been so difficult to match handwriting samples with his? The person that this therapist/social worker describes is certainly not the Bruce that I knew. Someone needs to question her motives, aside from seeking her 15-minutes of fame. Without going into detail, all the crap about Princeton and his obsession with KKG, at least in my mind, borders on sublime frabication.
We will have to see how it plays out but if the FBI doesn't show the proof I will never believe it. Especially, as they didn't get it right the first time.

Hockey Fan:
My condolences on the loss of your friend Dr. Ivins.
One has to wonder, however, why he would choose suicide if he knew he was innocent of the charges about to be brought against him.
CB
- 1 vote
Could it be that it was not suicide? Could it be that it is just another government lie and cover up? With this administration anything is possible...
Cat Bear: Aside from what I perceive as "the lack of a clear motive", the subject of suicide was something I wished to avoid. While in graduate school at UC, Bruce and I often discussed religion as both of us were raised in the Roman Catholic faith. From a personal standpoint, I have a difficult time envisioning/resolving why anyone would take their own life. All I can say is that we all perhaps have different breaking points of no return.

I get the impression that the FBI learned a lesson with Hatfield. They picked a patsy and he fought back. Guess they won't have that problem with Ivins. Again, his death was too convenient.

Couldn't pin it on Saddam. Ivins will do.

People here and there seem to imply that they think he's innocent. This thread implies that he was framed.
Why frame him? Seriously. He's not a usual suspect. He's not a member of any group that experiences persecution... except maybe the nerds :) I can't imagine it would be so hard to find a scapegoat that you'd choose that guy.

You don't have to be part of an organization, or be "the usual suspect" to be made a patsy of. (look at Richard Jewel)

(look at Richard Jewel)
Well point well taken but at the same time, though, (and i hate to be the guy that points out the pink elephant in the room) but it was post 9/11 and if the government wanted us to hate Arab Muslims so much, why not just frame one of them?
Huh? didn't they frame them for 9/11; the Arab Islamic Extremist I mean?? I mean, not that certain Arabic people weren't involved to execute the mission, but who were the key players? Who stood to gain the most? (not to mention who supplied Bin Laden himself with money, weapons, and training) I'm not sure exactly what you are referring to... The Richard Jewel comparison?? If so, his case was pre-9/11, the Olympic Park Bombing in Atlanta happened in the summer of 1996. Their main objective in his case (R.Jewel) was to show the world (since the entire world watches and participates in those games) that our government was competent enough to catch the bad guy within hours of the incident, so that all the thousands of people in Atlanta from all over the world visiting, and so all those millions watching would think that the threat was gone, and there was nothing more to worry over. So, they pinned it on an innocent man. At that time, the world wasn't 100% as divided as we've now become. Bill Clinton was president then, the Gulf War over, and in America the hurtful and wrong Arab-stereo-type of all of them being Islamic Extremists was muted compared to how it is now post-9/11. My point with the Richard Jewel thing was to remind everyone that the FBI will in fact pin it on the wrong guy to accomplish their goal, and no one is exempt from that.

Secret government installation? Biological warfare lab? If the rest of this reporter's story is as factual as these descriptions of the US Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases, then just file the whole story under "fiction".

The best propaganda is just a slight twist on the truth. I suspect everything about him is true except for a few key inventions, such as the therapist's story and the supposed suicide.
Yeh, and after they nail a serial killer, all his neighbors and friends say what a nice, quiet guy he was. Then they commit suicide so they don't have to face a judge and jury.
Same old story. This guy was a little more than just "troubled", according to his own therapist. I don't know what the NJ sorority thing is about, but it certainly sounds disturbing.
This is SCARY !!!!!

Seven years to narrow it down when they KNEW it was this particular strain?
Maybe someday they'll learn what really happened on 9/11..........
- 2 votes
Look, I was still fairly young when 9/11 happened and it scared me. But what scared the $h!t out of me was what followed. Everything got very very weird after 9/11 happened and it hasn't really gotten any better since. We're just getting used to it.. The conspiracies, the theories, even what we're told is 'known' relies on evidence that someone else swears can be debunked. THere are so many levels to 9/11 that no one person could ever truly be an expert on every inch of the subject, from physics to engineering, to sociology and psychology and criminology and comparitive religious studies... this damn thing drills down infinitely and for someone who spent impresionable years hearing all the theories in the calendar, it's too weird for me to even let myself think about.
I did hear one theory I particularly like though. The conspiracies against the USA are, in themselves, conspiracies, cooked up by the American government to make people think they're actually capable of coming up with such an evil master plan. At the very least, it's an entertaining thought ^_^
- 1 vote
Your government has been killing people all around the globe by the millions! Is that entertaining enough for you?
IMHO, I think the government was about to pin it on the wrong guy.
I hope this release of documents sheds more light on the subject. And that scrutiny of this released information will lead to further investigation. Maybe the government will finally clear Bruce Ivins as was Steven Hatfill.
If you've watched the interviews & stuff over the last couple of days, Ivins' co-workers and former supervisor(s) can not fathom Ivins being responsible for the attacks.
I believe his co-worker and supervisors. And I think Ms. Duley can not be believed.
I particularly believe Dr. Jeffery Adamovicz (Lt.Col., Retired).
I contacted Jeff about the suicide of Mr. Ivin's when I heard about it, days before Jeff's interviews with the media. Jeff informed me that Bruce didn't do it.
I for one, say this isn't over…

This poor fellow was so loose in the head his own shrink did not want to be near him. How could he be permitted to continue to work with such dangerous material. He must have been delusional because he had to know the strain he was working with had to have a footprint in it. Its sad because he told his coworkers he was delusional and nobody evidently passed this information on to higher authorities or they dismissed it if they did. My opinion you have to be a little loose in the head to work with this stuff day in and day out anyway. On the question of why the White House did not release the information sooner there are two explanations. One is the FBI asked them not to for obvious reasons and two this terror thing was right up the white houses alley keeping us scared.

My question is why would anybody believe the goverment coverup story. GET REAL, anybodyy working in a secret AMthrax lab would be tested, retested and watched all the time for any kind of mental imbalance. THey do all kinds of readical background checks on just DEA and FBI agents.

"our government" found a patsy to pin the murders on now he's gone so who will know. My condolences to the Ivin family. As well as the families of the Anthrax killings. The man was accused of 5 murders, hell he should have pled guilty, could have bargained and got a couple years court supervision. Unless he had some pot in his pocket when they picked him up, that could have meant hard time the way our court system works.

This article only made me think even further about this - quite a few loopholes they haven't "tied up" in order to "close this up". Don't believe everything you hear.

Hey, get with the program! This is about getting the American public to go along with the War on Iraq. These cons are sooooo SMART that it boggles the radar. The anthrax and Middle Easters scare was done at just the right moment; when the Patriotic Act was presented to congress.
And once again like with JFK the secrets will be buried. For god sake it is not our business is what they tell us, as our President said "just be good citizens" and of course don't question our govt. or the ones with big business interest. Big Brother and Big Business knows what is best for us, so they tell us.
- 2 votes
speaking of JFK. Check out St John Hunt's new book. Apparently he got a confession from his dad yes E. Howard Hunt
Big Brother and Big Business knows what is best for us, so they tell us.
Big brother and big business represent two opposing systems. Big Brother was the leader of a fictional communist dystopia and Big Business relies on outsourcing and raw, free-market capitalism. If they worked together, the universe would collapse in on itself from the weight of the paradox! 0_o
Yes big business is the daddy to big brother. And daddy provides big brother with an allowance. Hence big brother will do whatever daddy wants him to do. Bottom line - big money corrupts big brother.

Hey, AP.....stop calling Ft. Detrick a "secret governement installation." It's an Army base. Plain and simple. You are trying to over dramatize an already complex story and it's just wrong. Parts of Ft. Detrick are secure, just like most Army bases. But anyone with business on base can come and go, just like any other Army base.
logdump,
or 3) - third reason they haven't released it until now. Oh, how convenient, their "person of interest" just killed himself so now they can really pin it on him. (Suicide always leads to the assumed guilt of the person, doesn't it? Not perhaps just due to the fact he was being stalked & terrorized by the gov't. to the level the unbearable strain & stress caused a grown man to weep at his desk & almost killed him.. to the point he could no longer handle the strain.) (Do I sound pissed about this at all? I am & we all should be.)
how about reason # 3 - ummm, yeah, they can now concoct a story/motive & doctor this up to fit this suspect so we can prove they were right all along. case closed. BULL@!$%#....

And these smarty pants know that as soon as they are found without their protective clothes on, they will yell, Another Nut Case; dont worry!
THE SAD TRUTH IS THAT THE NUTCASES ARE SITTING AT THE WHITE HOUSE AND IN THE NEW WORLD ORDER. They lack morality, they are willing to do anything but anything for their cause.

exactly! ~ so glad that there are other people who see it the same way. It means there is a glimmer of hope for the common people. It means some of us have our eyes open. The real patriots are the ones who question their crooked governments. - As a woman, as much as I would love to have a child, I'm far too concerned about the direction our world is headed in to bring another person into it. But maybe if enough people keep on point and question wrong regardless of ridicule we can begin to reverse their attempts at an all-powerful, all-controlling, one-world government.

you know the FBi can make up any story they like, the guys was going to expose them and they killed him off..
they do that alot when they cannot get their ways
i dont know why moron always trying to blame bush, when most of the times it society that does the damage.
the only nutcase is "you nutcase." so please spare us your words.
Yeah, Sorry FBI but I don't believe you. (I was at the Olympic park bombings in '96 where they falsely accused Richard Jewel destroying his life, just to show the world they nabbed the bad guy quickly) The CIA, the FBI, crooked crooked individuals! They are the FBI, they can basically do anything they want, and fudge any documents they want, and incriminate any one they want to achieve their personal objective. (and in the end they'll simply discredit those of us that question things, and the case will be long forgotten over time) In this case, I think the objective was that extra push to justify the Patriot Act, a direct last attack on any fragments of freedom we had left in this country. Let's get the country in a panic, and then they (american people) will let us (FBI) do anything we want, thinking it will buy them security. But let's remember citizens: "Those who would sacrifice Freedom for Security deserve neither and will lose both." (b.franklin) Their ultimate agenda... Control, a global society, one world government. Next there will be some terrorist attack of some type they cook up that will then force all of us to be Verichipped (RFID chip), where all of our personal, banking, medical info. will be stored and they could literally track all of us "free" individuals to within less than a mile on their computers if they so chose. They already gave us their trial version for our pets. It's their little way of getting us used to it.
So, now that I've heard the lame official FBI, 'he did it to test his vaccine' story, and I've heard about the downward spiral of Mr.Ivans, and testimony from his friends and co-workers, as well as the testimony that the type of Anthrax he worked with was liquid and not powder, personally I'm convinced that our government (seeing as to how they had all access to the same things, and poisons as Mr. Ivans) is responsible, as a means to their end. The agenda was just one step closer to being a reality after mailing powdered anthrax to some key people (who were liberals questioning 9/11 as it were). They sure got all of us scared didn't they?! Oh God, don't open the mail without being afraid!! Then in the end their story didn't make much sense, and it had to be pinned on somebody, our government always needs a patsy for their dirty work.
- 2 votes
Yeah, I don't think that's much of a stretch myself. Just look at some of the other people who have died over the years at the hands of CIA, and FBI. JFK, MLKjr., Black Panther Party leaders, Chavez, etc etc etc. Yeah, I never exhumed his body personally, and I'm one of those that if I don't see it myself, and if it seems fishy, than I don't believe it.... at least never 100%. But even if they didn't physically pull the trigger, (or in his case, put the drugs in his mouth), they still drove him to it, so they are still guilty for his death. Harrassment by our government can be pretty unbearable. Just look at the way they treated MLK Jr. before his murder. They made death threats, attempt on his life, called his home harrassing his family and friends, taking him to jail constantly, telling his wife he was cheating on her, mailing her photographs of MLK with other women (at places he was never present), all kinds of things, until he was actually killed. Luckily for him he was an exceptionally strong minded individual, as was MLK's family, otherwise they may not have accomplished as much as they did. Unfortunately for Ivins, he was the newest witchhunt patsy for their purposes.

Logdump.
I agree with vanna-405960 and kram, that IHMO, the ceaseless pressure and dirty tricks put upon Mr. Ivins and the people around him, including his own family and co-workers, by the government, quite literally drove Mr. Ivins over the proverbial edge.
He was not the homicidal threat one person has painted him to be and did not lash out and harm others. But, instead, the constant and unbearable pressure probably did finally unhinge him, though. As it would anyone else.
And in his hopelessness and despair took his own life, ultimately driven to it by the 7+ years of constant strain.
This is shameful, and I pray the shame does not lay with Mr. Ivins.
Mr. you dont agree!
How about agreeing with the following Truth:
>No WMD found in Iraq.
>No interecept by our govt during 9/11
>Anthrax came from our American Military Lab and a special kind of anthrax, that only that lab makes, yet for the past 7 years we were lead to believe that it was done by Middle Eastern people. By the way may I ask, what is your favorite cause?
- 3 votes
Yeah, ...not to mention the fact that when the video from 9/11 is played back, you can CLEARLY see tiny explosives going on just as the building is collapsing, and they collapse in the EXACT same way as every planned demolition in history. And to top it off, somehow our government can't get military to the scene of the crime in time to stop the second plane from hitting 20 mintues later?! Yeah, weird. The official story: they were doing a pretend, test mission kind of deal at the time, and didn't think the explosion and gaping hole in the first world trade center was real... it was just part of the scenario for the test mission... something like that, their story never made any sense.
And to put the icing on the cake, BUILDING 7... where do I begin?! Again, a perfectly planned demolition. The owner of the building even accidentally admitted to "pulling" the building later in a taped interview. There were a lot of important files stored inside. The building, also with a steel structure, was not hit by a plane, had no major fires inside, and had minor structural damage done after the two planes hit the other towers. And yet, somehow, it mysteriously fell, perfectly, and precisely straight down. The same way the old casinos did in Vegas.
Building 7 is important because if the demolition, or "pull" of it was preplanned (it takes some time and preparation to set up the explosives for a "pull"- more than a few hours!) that proves that September 11th was in fact an inside job. It proves it. Just think it over in your minds. There was no reason for that building to have fallen, and it doesn't take rocket science to disprove the government story of how it all happened and get to the truth. If anyone has any questions as to what happened with Building 7, and 9/11, just do some research, just a little will get you the answers you're looking for. View the video from that day again, and pay close attention, and decide for yourselves. I know it's hard for some of you to see the truth, because it's frightening, and sad, and I know because I have small-town, republican, conservative parents, whom I love, that just don't want to believe that our leaders, or president, our FBI, our military could be responsible for this. They just want to live their lives happily, freely, and calmly. That's all most of us want, but the truth is the truth, fact is fact, and guilty is guilty.

FYI, I dont have one.
if you going to blame anyone blame your congressmen or woman, dont always blame bush. people have the misconception that the president has the only say in these matter (while yes the truth might be bent a bit by other sources, if your congressman or woman, cannot do research then well the blame is certainly on them), but otherwise it has to be voted ON if any desicion is to be made. the president can agree with congress or veto the measure, but then congress can override the veto, so think about it.
the president cannot start a war without congress approval, the president cannot do much without their approval. so please.... yes we have been told a lots of fibs and deceptionsand lies, but you voted for your congress man or woman so please put the blame on yourself. the wouldnt care what you think til you vote them out of office.
im sure the next president will have the same recourse whoever he may be. we should try the get better people in congress who will listen to the people, and not their own judgements.
i hope i live long enough to see a peaceful world, but at the rate we are going, we are going to hell.
You will never see peace without radical change in this government. And you will never see radical change in this government because way too much money is involved. In that regard democrats = republicans. There is no real difference. Therefore, since there will be no radical change even if Obama is elected, there will be no peace. Not in our lifetime, unless this current empire does crumble to the ground.
As long as those in power value the almighty dollar more than they value human life, nothing will change.

This is not the first time in history that the kinds of Wilmett crowd of neocons have met to decide the fate of the world. In the late 1800's we had the meeting of the powerful in the Geneva Conference. That is where the big guys decided that it was ok to colonize the indigenous countries of the world. Based on the idea that they were genetically superior so could lead and that modernization was the only viable way for the world to go. Basically the Geneva Conference was a war on natives, and the idea was to wrap it up get rid of the problem and go forth into Industrialization. Who were these leaders but Bismarck of Germany, Rhodes of England and Rothschild. Genocide was used back in the late 1800, everywhere in the world.
Yes. Greed has been alive and well throughout the history of mankind.
The case is all based on circumstantial evidence. They have no direct evidence at all. They were on the news talking about the "new science" that had been developed to DNA the Anthrax spores at the FBI. They have not published anything in a science journal on this to this date. I just don't buy that this guy did what they are saying based on their evidence as presented during their news conference. Supposedly the guy was looking at losing his contract for the work at the Army. Supposedly he was working many more hours. Maybe, like a lot of other contracts, when looking at your contract ending; you put in a lot more hours. Maybe he was actually just working!!!! Seems he only got mentally ill just before the anthrax attacks. Tooooo convenient. If the man had a drinking problem - it was probably brought on by the hounding he took from the investigators. I say keep looking for the real culprit.
